Hope Zone Partner Spotlight

Dayton Leadership Academies (DLA) is making a significant impact through Omega CDC’s Hope Zone Promise Neighborhood funding, expanding both in-school and after-school tutoring programs.

Through in-school math tutoring, DLA partners with Teach For America’s Ignite Tutoring to provide one-on-one virtual support for 15 sixth-grade students. In the fall semester, students received tutoring three times a week for 50 minutes per session. As a result, 100% of Ignite tutoring students scored proficient or higher on their second-quarter math exam.

In after-school tutoring, DLA teachers provide four additional hours of reading and math instruction each week to 75 students in grades 1-8. On second-quarter exams, these students scored 42% higher in ELA and 44% higher in math than their peers.

DLA is also collaborating with Hope Zone partners to provide additional resources. Omega CDC Success Navigators mentor 8th-grade girls through weekly meetings. Spectrum New Beginnings offers wellness activities for staff and families. Brunner Literacy Center donated 75 books for the Books and Basketball event. Preschool Promise installed a Little Book Library and donated 120 picture books for kindergartners. Wright Patt Credit Union provided a financial literacy curriculum for 7th and 8th-grade math classes.

The success of DLA’s programs highlights the power of collaboration through the Hope Zone Promise Neighborhood. By connecting services and resources where they are most needed, partnerships strengthen and expand the impact of each organization involved. Whether through mentorship, literacy support, financial education, or wellness initiatives, these partnerships ensure that students, families, and educators have access to critical resources that enhance learning and well-being. Together, we are creating a network of support that amplifies opportunities and improves outcomes for the entire community.
