Portraits of Hope – Celebrating Omega CDC’s 3rd Annual Gala

12/01/2024

Omega Community Development Corporation’s (Omega CDC) work is guided by a shared vision of hope—hope that inspires action, uplifts communities, and creates pathways to a brighter future. On November 19 at the Dayton Art Institute, Omega CDC celebrated our 3rd Annual Gala, Portraits of Hope, to recognize the power of hope and the people who bring it to life.

This year’s theme, Portraits of Hope, was brought to life through the stories and images of Hope Zone community members, partners, and staff. Their words and portraits shared the profound ways hope looks, feels, and matters in their lives and in our collective work. The evening highlighted how hope transcends challenges, fosters resilience, and creates opportunities for transformation.

The gala featured a keynote address from Dr. Michael McAfee, CEO of PolicyLink and the inaugural director of the Promise Neighborhood Institute at PolicyLink, who called the audience to reflect deeply on their roles in creating change. His questions—“What will I love into existence?” and “How can I be the manifestation of love for ALL?”—challenged and inspired attendees to take actionable steps toward equity and justice in our communities.

The evening was a testament to the strength and unity in the Hope Zone. Omega CDC was privileged to share this space with national and local partners, including Tauheedah Jackson from Harvard University’s EdRedesign Lab, Brian McClendon, from the William Julius Wilson Institute at Harlem Children’s Zone; and Bridget January and Colin Groth from StriveTogether. Collective insights and support from National partners reminds us that collaboration is essential in building a future where hope thrives for everyone.

Portraits of Hope was not just an event—it was a movement. It reminded us of the transformative power of hope when fueled by love, determination, and community. Omega CDC is deeply grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this vision and are excited to continue building a future that reflects the hope we see in our Promise Neighborhood community every day.

If you couldn’t attend the Portraits of Hope gala but want to support the cause, you can make a donation here. Every contribution directly impacts our mission—thank you for being part of it.
