Because One Is Too Many

Omega Community Development Corporation (CDC) is dedicated to supporting the health and wellness of mothers, babies, and families in our community. While progress has been made in maternal and infant health, there is still critical work to do—particularly in Montgomery County. Over the past nine years, the county has had a maternal mortality rate of 19.7 deaths per 100,000 live births, higher than the state average of 14.7. Similarly, the infant mortality rate stands at 9.8 per 1,000 live births, compared to Ohio’s average of 7.1.

These numbers are more than statistics—they represent mothers and babies who deserved better outcomes, and families who experienced loss when there should have been joy.

We refuse to accept this as normal. Our goal is simple, we want that number to be zero. Every mother deserves the chance to have a safe, healthy pregnancy, and every baby deserves a strong start in life. That’s why Omega CDC is committed to being part of the solution.

Since 2022, Omega CDC has partnered with Moms2B to support expectant and new mothers in our community. While our collaboration began before the Hope Zone Promise Neighborhood grant, this funding has allowed us to expand and strengthen our efforts. It’s helped us reach more families and deepen our partnership with Moms2B—a program funded through Wright State University. Moms2B provides education, nutrition support, and access to medical and social services, all designed to improve birth outcomes. Research shows that programs like this reduce preterm births and low birth weights, giving babies a better chance at a healthy life.

And we’re not stopping there, we also have a full-time Maternal Family Coach—someone who walks alongside moms-to-be and new mothers, making sure they have the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need for a safe pregnancy and a healthy baby.

We are here. We are listening. And we are ready to help.
