Demolition Scheduled for Tomorrow!

06/11/2024

After 12 years of hard work and dedication, the final building to be demolished on the Omega Harvard Campus will come down on Wednesday, June 12. The announcement on Friday took us by surprise and left us feeling quite emotional. Securing the funding and support for the demolition has been no simple task. However, thanks to the commitment and perseverance of Omega Baptist’s congregation, church leadership, and the steadfast work of William Allen, we can finally say it is happening.

Although we feel a deep connection to the campus’s history, the abandoned building posed a risk to the community. The effort required to accomplish something as significant as demolishing a building is often hard to grasp. Over the past 12 years, many obstacles stood in the way, but the Omega Baptist leadership never gave up, consistently finding ways to overcome these barriers. We are incredibly grateful to the church for their unwavering commitment to the community and for leading by example.

We will hold a short ceremony on Wednesday, June 12, at 9:00 a.m. to honor the history of Fout Hall and commemorate this moment in our shared story. Brief comments by Pastor Joshua Ward, William Allen, and community leaders will follow the official demolition. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our partners in this endeavor.
