The Power of Storytelling

06/26/2024

Storytelling is more than just an art, it is a force for change. Stories have the unique power to evoke emotions, making them memorable and forging deep connections between the storyteller and the listener. This connection is at the heart of why stories matter. We believe that every person carries a story worth sharing, and it is these stories that weave the fabric of our communities.

In northwest Dayton, the stories of those who live, work, and play here define the area. These narratives are not just personal anecdotes but are powerful enough to influence the community and shape local policies. Understanding and sharing these stories can lead to significant community transformation.

Recognizing this potential, Omega CDC, in collaboration with Lore Storytelling, embarked on a mission to empower local voices. Over the past four weeks, community members and employees have been a part of a workshop, teaching them the craft of storytelling. Each participant has been guided through the process of cultivating their own unique story.

This Friday, these storytellers will step into the spotlight, ready to share their stories with the community. This event celebrates voices that can inspire change and foster a deeper sense of connection within northwest Dayton. As these stories unfold, they will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact, reminding us all of the power that lies within our own stories and the collective strength they bring to our community.

Please join us Friday, June 28, from 5:30 – 8:00 pm at 1816 Harvard Blvd., for dinner and stories. Please register here: Stories of Hope
