On September 17, Omega CDC hosted its largest Youth for Peace March yet. We had 441 registered participants, including our staff, with even more neighbors joining us on the day of the event. More than 30 partners also helped plan and participate in the gathering.
The day belonged entirely to our young people. Youth led honest conversations, shared speeches and poetry, and marched together from Grace Church to Liberation Park. There were no adult speakers, and one of our Family and Youth Advocacy Council members served as MC.
A march alone cannot solve every challenge our community faces, but it can create space for meaningful conversation, surround young people with support, and remind us that even when times are difficult, there is always a reason to keep working toward something better.
That support continues through RE-LITE Nites, which provides youth ages 12–19 with a safe, welcoming place to connect, create, play, and grow. Learn more about RE-LITE here.
We are incredibly grateful for the way our community continues to support this event and has helped it grow into what it is today. Special thanks to the City of Dayton, the Dayton Police Department for escorting our marchers, the Southern Dayton View Neighborhood Association, and every young person, family, partner, neighbor, and community member who joined us.
