The State Of The Hope Zone

On September 28th, the Omega Community Development Corporation hosted the State of the Hope Zone event. This gathering allowed staff members, community participants, partners, scholars, and guests to engage in the ongoing efforts within the Hope Zone.

Attendees were treated to insightful presentations by Josh Davis from Strive Together and Tauheedah Jackson from Harvard Graduate School of Education, EdRedesign Institute for Success Planning. They gained valuable insights from practical field experiences and received tools to facilitate their work.

In addition, a panel of scholars, guardians, and community members added a whole other level of thought-provoking conversation, offering diverse perspectives and enriching the discourse.

Vanessa Ward and Rachel Ward provided an update on progress within the Hope Zone, reviewed targeted objectives, and introduced the Hope Zone Strategic Push: achieving a 45% benchmark of third graders reading at or above grade level by 2027!

The event served as a stark reminder and a moment of inspiration, underscoring our collective commitment to go above and beyond to reach the 45% goal because our scholars deserve nothing less!
